Ved Nayar was born in 1933 in Lyallpur.

He graduated from the National College of Fine Art, New Delhi. In 1957 he started painting and sculpting.

He has had several solo exhibitions and participated in several group exhibitions:
In 2010 and 2011 he participated in Manifestations IV and Manifestations V at Delhi Art Gallery, New Delhi and took part in a group show at Gallery Ensign, New Delhi. In 2011 he had a solo show, Drawings: Evolving Human Form at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi. In 2011 he participated in The Intuitive: Logic Revisited at The World Economic Forum in Switzerland. In 2012 he took part in a group show at Gallery Beyond, Mumbai. In 2013 he participated in The Naked and the Nude: The Body in Indian Modern Art at Delhi Art Gallery, New Delhi. He participated in a group show Wounds at CIMA, Kolkata. He participated in a group show To Encounter Others in Germany. He took part in Contemporary Indian Art in Japan and participated in the 5th and 8th Triennial in India. He took part in the International workshop on Art and Ecology at Max Mueller, New Delhi.

Ved lives and works in New Delhi.
