Manish Nai was born in 1980 in Gujarat.

In 2001 he completed his Drawing and Painting degree from L. S. Raheja School of Art, Mumbai.

He had many solo exhibitions:
In 2004 he had a solo debut ‘Anhad’ at Gallery 7, Mumbai. In 2005 he exhibited Minimal Structures at Apparao Galleries in Delhi and Chennai. In 2007 he showcased solo in Threading A Coded Path at Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai. In 2009 he showcased ‘Manish Nai – New Works’ at Galerie Karsten Greve, Cologne. In 2010 he had a solo exhibition at Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai. In 2012 he showcased his solo works in ‘Compact’ at Galerie Gebr. Lehmann, Berlin. In 2013 he exhibited at Art Basel, Hong Kong. In 2014 he exhibited solo at Galerie Karsten Greve, Switzerland. In 2015 he had a solo exhibition at Kavi Gupta, Chicago. In 2016 he exhibited solo at Galerie Karsten Greve, Paris and in 2017 he had a solo exhibition at Fondation Fernet-Branca, Saint-Louis.

Manish has participated in several group exhibitions:
In 2000 he participated in the Monsoon Show at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2002 he took part in the Singapore Art Fair presented by Apparao Galleries, Chennai. In 2003 he took part in Beppu Asia Contemporary Art Exhibition, Beppu Museum, Japan. In 2007 he participated in the 1st Anniversary Exhibition of Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai. In 2008 he took part in the second edition of Art Summit, New Delhi and participated in a group exhibition at the Baumwollspinnerei, Leipzig in Germany. In 2009 he participated in a group exhibition, Panorama: India at Arco Madrid in Madrid and took part in Relative Visa at Bodhi Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2011 he participated in Abstract Articulations at Gallery Espace, New Delhi and took part in the 5th Anniversary Exhibition at Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai. In 2010 he took part in the India Art Summit at New Delhi and participated in India Inclusive: Contemporary Art from India at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. In 2012 he took part in Asia Art Archive Fundraiser in Hong Kong and he participated in The Indian Parallax or the Doubling of Happiness at Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata. In 2012 he participated in the 9th Shanghai Biennale at Mumbai City Pavilion, Shanghai. In 2012 he participated in The Skoda Prize Show at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. In 2013 he took part in ‘The Material Point: Reconsidering the Medium on the (Post)Modern Moment’ at Gallery OED, Kochi. In 2014 he took part in a group show, Ethereal at Leila Heller Gallery, New York; he participated in the Kochi Muzirus Biennale, Kochi and he took part in Midnight’s Grandchildren at Kitab Mahal, Mumbai.

He has received several awards:
In 2001 he received an award from the Bombay Art Society, Mumbai. In 2001 he won the Noki Arts Awards at Asia Pacific. In 2005 he won at Pollock -Krasner Foundation Award 2005 in New York.

Manish lives and works in Mumbai.
