Rajshree Karkera
1963Rajshree Karkera was born in 1963 in Mumbai.
In 1989 she received her degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai. In 2000 she received the Govt. of India Junior Fellowship for Visual Art.
She has had several solo shows:
In 2002 she exhibited solo Wax Sculptures and Paintings at Nazar Contemporary Art Gallery, Baroda. In 2003 and 2004 she had solo exhibitions at Alliance Francaise, Ahmedabad. In 2007 and 2015 she exhibited solo at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2002 and 2004 she had joint exhibitions at Artists Centre, Mumbai.
She has participated in several group shows:
In 1997 she participated in Srujan at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 1999 she took part in a group exhibition at Son-et-Lumiere Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2004 she exhibited in a group show Abstract Journey at Anant Art Gallery, New Delhi. In 2005 she took part in Abstract Visions at Gallery Muller and Plate, Germany. In 2007 she participated in Contemporary Indian Painting, a group exhibition at Garvaid Centre, Edinburgh. In 2009 she took part in a group show at Nehru Centre, Mumbai. In 2012 she took part in Kerala Green at New Delhi. In 2015 she participated in a group exhibition Silent Windows II at Gallery 7, Kalaghoda in Mumbai. In 1991 she took part in the 14th Monsoon Art Show at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 1993 she took part in a group show at The Gallery, Chennai. From 1996 - 1998 she participated in Miniature Format Show at Sans Tache, Mumbai. In 1997 she took part in 50 Years of Art in Mumbai at National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai. In 1998 she participated in Essays in Time, a show on kinetic sculptures at Nehru Centre, Mumbai. In 1998 she participated in Art for the Sustainable World at Nehru Centre, Mumbai. In 2001, 2003 and 2004 she took part in the National Exhibitions at Lalit Kala Academy in Bhopal, Bangalore and Kochi. In 2002 she took part in Monsoon in the Millennium at Sans Tache, Mumbai. In 2002 she participated in Mumbai Musings at Habitat Centre, New Delhi. In 2004 she exhibited in a group exhibition of sculptures at India Art in Pune. In 2004 and 2005 she participated in group shows, Ideas & Images and Present-Future at National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai. In 2010 she took part in India Art Festival at Nehru Centre.
Rajshree attended several art camps and workshops:
In 1994 and 1995 she attended the Water Colour Camps organised by Artists Centre at Murud Janjira and Harihareshwar. In 2001 she attended an Interactive Workshop at Son-Et-Lumiere, Mumbai. In 2005 she attended the National Women Artist Camp by DC Books in Kerala. In 2008 she attended the National Women Artist Camp by Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. In 2011 she attended the Kerala Green International camp for South Asian countries in Kerala. In 2011 she attended the ICAC camp at Malshej in Maharashtra.
She lives and works in Mumbai.
