Mrinmoy Barua was born in 1972 in New Delhi.

In 1996 he received his degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts from Jamia Milia Islamia. In 1998 he received his degree of Master of Fine Arts from Delhi College of Art.

He has had many solo exhibitions:
In 1998 and 2000 he exhibited solo in New Delhi. In 2015 he had solo exhibitions at Excellentia Horse Show and Gold Souk through SIDB. In 2015 he had a solo exhibition at Crowne Palace Hotel, Okhla in New Delhi. In 2016 he showcased solo at Taj Gateway Resort, Gurgaon.

He has showcased in many group exhibitions:
In 1996 he attended the Yuva Mahotsav Camp organized by Sahitya Kala Parishad. In 1997 he attended the All India Graphics Camp organized by Lalit Kala Academy, Lucknow. From 1997 - 2000 he participated in group exhibitions at Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi. In 1999 he participated in a group exhibition at Swastika Art Gallery, New Delhi. In 2000 he took part in various group exhibitions at India Habitat Centre; Urashwati Gallery and Master’s Guilt, New Delhi. In 2001 - 2002 he attended the Mussourie Camp organized by Bawa Industries. In 2001 he attended the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society Camp, New Delhi. In 2002 he attended the Sahitya Kala Parishad Camp. In 2006 he attended the National Camp at Assam. In 2002 he participated in a group exhibition organized by Bawa Industries. In 2002 he took part in a group exhibition at Birla Academy, Calcutta. In 2002 he took part in the annual group show organized by Sahitya Kala Parishad. In 2005 and 2012 he participated in the National exhibitions at Lalit Kala Academy. In 2005 he participated in a group exhibition organized by Russian Cultural Centre, New Delhi. In 2005 he took part in a group show organized by Trivoli Garden. In 2007 he attended Kala Khazana, an art camp in association with Sanjeev Kapoor at Phuket, Thailand. In 2008 he took part in 'Times Festival 2008' and a group show organized by Lalit Kala Academy, Assam. In 2009 he took part in Hues in Myraits at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. In 2009 he took part in a two person show at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. From 2012 - 2014 he took part in various group exhibitions: Together; Ghumakkad; Ingenious Edecticism and Spring Splash at Lalit Kala Akademi, Rabindra Bhavan in New Delhi. In 2014 he participated in Inner Vision – By Three Aces at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

In 1996 he received the Al-Falah merit scholarship from Jamia Milia Islamia. In 1998 he won the Yuva Mahotsav Award organized by Sahitya Kala Parishad. In 2002 he won the State and National level award from AIFACS, New Delhi.

He lives and works in New Delhi.
