Rupesh Sonar was born in 1995 in Satara, Maharashta.

In 2014 - 2015 he completed his government advance art course from Abhinav Kala Mahavidhyalay, Pune.

Rupesh has won several awards:
In 2012 he received an award at Papertells Art Gallery, Pune. In 2014 he won Pranlal Bhogilal Fund Award at Bombay Art Society, Mumbai. In 2015 he received the Baburao Sadvelkar Award In Sumbran Art Foundation, Pune. In 2015 he won the DSK Kala Vishwa State Level Landscape competition award.

In 2016 Rupesh attended the Nehru Centre Landscape study camp in Alibaug.

He lives and works in Mumbai.
