Obayya was born in 1981 in Karnataka.

In 2009 he received his B.F.A. from C.A.V.A. in Mysore. In 2014 he received his M.F.A. from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.

He has participated in many group exhibitions:
In 2009 he participated in the Annual Art Exhibition of C.A.V.A. in Mysore. In 2012 he took part in the group exhibition of the Faculty of Visual Arts students of Rabindra Bharati University at Gallery ICCR, Kolkata. In 2014 he participated in the 122nd All India Annual Art Exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2015 he took part in the 48th Annual Exhibition of Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata and he took part in the 97th All India Annual Art Exhibition of The Art Society of India at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2015 He participated in a group show ‘A Journey through the Years, 1984-2015’ at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2016 he participated in the 49th Annual Exhibition at Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata. In 2016 he participated in the group show ‘A Labyrinth of Tales - I’ at Gallery 7, Kalaghoda in Mumbai. In 2016 he participated in the group show ‘The Melting Pot’ at Gallery 7, Kalaghoda in Mumbai.

In 2014 Obayya won an award at India Art Festival. In 2014 he won a Certificate of Merit in the Annual Exhibition of Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. In 2014 he won an award at the 122nd All India Annual Art Exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.

Obayya lives and works in Mumbai.
