Madhuri Kathe
1972Madhuri Kathe was born in 1972 in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
In 1993 Madhuri received her Masters degree in drawing and painting from the art college in Madhya Pradesh. In 1995 she received her Master degree in Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology. In 1999 she received her Ph.D. on ‘A Critical Study of Raghogarh School of Painting’. In 2000 - 2001 she had been a faculty member of the Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai.
She had several solo and group exhibitions:
n 1984 she participated in the 10th Hindu Conference New York exhibition on the theme ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam’. In 2000 she participated in a group show at Contemporary Art Gallery, Ahmedabad. In 2000 she exhibited at Gallery Leela, Mumbai. In 2000 she had a solo ‘A Path of Liberation’ at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2005 she participated in the Annual show of CIMA Art Gallery, Kolkata. In 2007 she exhibited ‘Dreamscapes’ at the gallery Kashya Hildebrand, Zurich; she participated in a group show called ‘Freedom’ at Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi and she participated in the ‘Past Present Unto The Future Contemporary Indian Art’ at Dhoomimal Gallery, New Delhi. In 2011 she had a solo exhibition ‘A Wordless Dialogue’ at the Museum Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2015 she did a public installation at the Carter Road promenade in Mumbai (Good Homes Art Initiative).
Madhuri received many awards:
In 1992 she received a gold medal for a collage at the Nation Youth Festival, Banaras Hindu University in Uttar Pradesh. In 1993 she won the first prize from the Inter-University West Zone, Nagpur University. She was awarded the Madhya Pradesh Kala Parishad award from Devi Ahilya University, Indore. In 1995 she won an award from Rashtriya Kalidas Samaroha, Ujjain.
Madhuri lives and works in Mumbai.
