Dhananjay Singh was born in 1977 in Hajipur, Bihar.

In 1999 he received his degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi. In 2002 he received his degree of Master of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University in Baroda.

Dhananjay had several solo and joint shows:
In 2004 he had a joint show at Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University in Baroda. In 2006 he exhibited solo at Greenhouse Gallery, Melbourne. In 2007 he had a joint show at Art Pilgrim Gallery, London.

He participated in several group exhibitions:
From 2000 - 2004 he participated in the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy Exhibitions in Ahmedabad. From 2001 - 2003 he took part in group exhibitions at AIFACS, Ahmedabad. In 2001 he participated in the 43rd National Exhibition of Art, Bangalore and took part in the 44th National Exhibition of Art, Ahmedabad. In 2002 - 2003 he participated in the 45th National Exhibition of Art, Guwahati and Hyderabad. In 2002 he took part in the All India Exhibition of Drawings at Punjab Lalit Kala Academy, Chandigarh. In 2003 - 2004 he took part in the 46th National Exhibition of Art, Kochi. In 2003 he exhibited in All India Exhibition of Art at South Central Zone Cultural Centre in Nagpur. In 2004 he took part in Swarn Rekha at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. From 2004 - 2006 he took part in the Harmony Shows at Nehru Centre, Mumbai. In 2005 he took part in group shows, Generation To and Fro at Kaleidoscope Art Gallery, Baroda and Sculpture Show at Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad. In 2006 he took part in the Bharat Bhavan International Biennial of Print-Art in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. In 2006 he took part in a group show at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. In 2007 he participated in Gulf Art Fair, Dubai. In 2014 he took part in Ode to Monumental: Celebration, Visuality, Ideology at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.

Dhananjay received several awards:
In 1998 he won the Annual Award from Faculty of Visual Arts at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. In 2000, 2001 and 2004 he won the Gujarat State Academy Awards, Ahmedabad. In 2000 he won a Gold Medal at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. From 2001 - 2003 he received the National Cultural Scholarship from Government of India, New Delhi. In 2001 he received an Honorable Mention in the 44th National Art Exhibition in Ahmedabad. In 2002 he won the National Academy Award from Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. In 2005 he won the Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Award in London; Harmony Excellence Award in Mumbai and INLAKS Fine Art Award from INLAKS Foundation, New Delhi. In 2006 he won the Sculptor in Residence Award from Faculty of Art & Design, Monash University in Melbourne.

Dhananjay lives and works in Ahmedabad.
