Amit A. Thorat was born in 1990 in Pune.

In 2013 he received his diploma in Fine Art from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune. In 2014 he completed his BFA from VICC, Pune. In 2015 he received his degree in MFA from Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai.

Amit has received several awards:
In 2014 - 2015 he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. In 2015 - 2016 He has won the Annual Exhibition Award from Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai. In 2016 he won the Gallery 7: Arun Sachdev Award from Gallery 7 at the Annual exhibition of Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai.

He lives and work in Pune.
