Ravinder Reddy was born in 1956 in Suryapet, Andhra Pradesh.
He is a graduate from M. S. University, Baroda with a degree of BA and MA in sculpture. Between 1982 and 1984, Reddy studied sculpture at Goldsmith College of Art and Ceramics at the Royal College of Art, London. From 1984 - 1990 he was a faculty member, then an assistant director of the Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad and eventually moved to teach sculpture at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.
From 1981 - 2014 he had several and group shows in Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Washington DC, New York, London, France, Chicago, Dubai, Manchester, Madrid, Moscow and Brazil. In 1988 and 1990 he participated in 2nd and 3rd Biennale at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal.
In 1993 and 1997 he received junior and senior fellowship from the Department of Culture, Government of India in New Delhi. In 1980 he was awarded the Gujarat Lalit Kala Academy award and the National Academy Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi.
He lives and works in Vishakapatnam.
