Chandra Bhattacharjee

Chandra Bhattacharjee was born in 1961 in Patuli, West Bengal.

In 1986 he graduated from Indian College of Art and Draughtsmanship, Kolkata. In 1986 he won the Gold Medal from Rabindra Bharati University for excellence in Fine Arts. In 1989 he received his Diploma of Post-Graduate in Fine Arts from Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University in Santiniketan.

Chandra has had several solo shows:
In 1994, 1995, 1997, 2005, 2008 and 2010 he had one person shows in Kolkata. In 1997, 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2007 he had solo exhibitions in New Delhi. In 1998, 2000, 2001, 2005 and 2006 he had solo shows in Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. In 2007 he had a solo show at The Gallery, London.

Chandra participated in many group shows in India and overseas:
In 1999 he participated in group shows in Singapore, Mumbai, Toronto, New York, Hyderabad and Bangalore. In 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2006 he participated in group shows at Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata. In 2000 he participated in group shows in Kolkata, Vizag and at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2001 he participated in group shows in Kolkata, Hong Kong, Mumbai, New Delhi and Singapore. In 2002 he exhibited in group exhibitions in Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Dubai and at the Singapore Art Fair, Singapore. In 2003 and 2004 he showcased in several group shows in Kolkata, New Delhi, London, Kathmandu, Bangalore and Mumbai. In 2005 and 2006 he took part in group shows in Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, UK, Bangalore, Singapore, London, Baroda and at the XI Indian Triennale, New Delhi. In 2007 and 2008 he took part in group exhibitions in Kolkata, Hong Kong, Bangalore, Munich, Tokyo, Turkey, Singapore, Mumbai, New Delhi and at the Academy of Art, New York. In 2009 - 2012 he exhibited in group shows in Singapore, New Delhi and Mumbai. In 2010 and 2013 he took part in ‘Art Celebrates 2010’ and ‘Edge of Reason’ at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. In 2012 he participated in ‘Art for Humanity’ at Coomaraswamy Hall, Mumbai. In 2016 Chandra was showcased as a part of a group show titled as, 'The Melting Pot' - 100 works by India's Leading Modern and Contemporary Artists at Gallery 7, Mumbai.

Chandra lives and works in Kolkata.
