Laxma Goud was born in 1940 in Andhra Pradesh.
In 1962 he received his Diploma in Drawing and Painting from Government College of Fine Arts and Architecture in Hyderabad. In 1965 he received his Post Diploma in Mural Painting and Drawing from Faculty of Fine Art, Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda.
He had several solo shows in India and overseas:
In 1965 - 1967 and 2008 he exhibited solo in Hyderabad. In 1972, 2003, 2006 and in 2011 he had solo exhibitions in Mumbai. In 1973 and 1982 he had solo exhibitions at and at the Royal Academy, London. In 1974, 1975 & 1976 he had solo exhibitions at Freinsheim and Hamburg, Germany. In 1976 he had several solo exhibitions, New Delhi and in 1985 he exhibited at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. In 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2007 Laxma had solo exhibitions at Grey Art Gallery and Aicon Gallery, New York. In 2009 he exhibited solo at Aicon Gallery, London. In 1991, 2008 and 2011 he had solo exhibitions in Chennai and Mumbai.
He had several group shows in India and overseas:
In 1977 he participated in an exhibition at Sao Paulo in Brazil. He participated in a group exhibition at Grey Art Gallery, New York. In 1986 he participated in ‘Indian Art Tomorrow’, Philips Collection in Washington DC. In 1986 he participated in ‘Contemporary Indian Art’ the Herwitz Collections at Worcester Art Museum, USA. In 1993 he took part in ‘Wounds’ at National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. In 1998, 2001, 2005, 2006 and 2007 he participated in several group shows in Mumbai, New Delhi, London and Hyderabad. In 2007 he participated in a group show ‘Colors of Art’. In 2008 he participated in ‘X at the rate of Jehangir’ at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. From 2008 - 2012 he exhibited in New Delhi, Bangalore, Dubai, Mumbai, Kolkata, at Aicon Gallery, New York and London. In 2009 he participated in 'Moderns and More' at Aicon Gallery in Palo Alto. In 2010 he took part in a group show at Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai. In 2011 and 2013 he exhibited in New Delhi. In 2014 he exhibited at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.
In 1962 and 1966 he received awards from Lalit Kala Academy, Andhra Pradesh. In 1971 he received a gold medal from Lalit Kala Academy, Andhra Pradesh. In 1968 he was awarded silver medal and in 1969 a gold medal from Hyderabad Art Society, Hyderabad. In 2016 he was conferred the Padma Shree by the Government of India.
